Thank you for your interest in serving with the ministry at Lakeside Baptist Church!

We take the protection and safety of children and vulnerable persons that are in our care very seriously.  It is our desire at Lakeside Baptist Church to create a secure and safe ministry environment for everyone. We take extra steps to protect children, students, and vulnerable persons. Lakeside's volunteer screening process includes  a Volunteer Application for first time volunteers, a criminal and DHR background check, and Ministry Safe sexual abuse prevention training. Each year all volunteers must read the current Child Protection First Policy and agree to abide by it.  All volunteers and church staff will complete a background check screening every three years.

F.A.Q.

1) What background checks does Lakeside use to screen potential volunteers?

We screen our volunteers through an application and a multi-level background check, including a national criminal background check, a national sex offender registry clearance, and an Alabama DHR clearance.

2) How often does background checks need to be renewed?

The background checks and clearances are renewed every three years.  Every year our volunteers must sign a statement that they have read and will comply with our current Child Protection First policy.

3) What are Lakeside's supervision and accountability protocols?

We provide supervision and accountability through protocols such as the two-person rule to help ensure that no adult or youth volunteer is ever alone with a minor.  We also restrict access to areas of our buildings where ministry to preschoolers and children occurs, and we use a security identification (check-in/out) system.
